Herrings are coming!

The herrings just appeared as a symbol of Hamburg, the city where I live and which I love with all my heart. About 4 years ago I created a collection of embroideries with symbols of Northern Germany - tugs, container ships, lighthouses, seagulls and wind turbines. Back then, there were no herrings. And now, having grown into an independent motif, they became the basis of a whole series of brooches in metal frames. The largest brooch has over 550 stitches, while the smaller ones have around 400. This is how I imagine souvenirs from Northern Germany: minimalist, but comprehensive, nothing extra: just cotton, cotton threads and slight sheen of metal.

This Friday, August 22 at 11 AM CET herrings will be available in oval and rectangular frames. Don't miss out!

In my next post, I’ll share how I worked on this drop – there’s a lot of interesting stuff 🤓
